YFZ Restore and Repair

Postby Woody_450r » Fri Apr 06, 2018 9:08 am

So as I posted on a previous thread I’ve recently picked up my new YFZ450 04 model.

Unfortunately it has not been looked after BUT the price I got it for was a massive steal. The plastics where in need of some serious TLC and it’s not running, dead batt and when it does start the Header pipe glows red hot instantly, as far as I’m aware something has broke in the carb previously and been glued back together so I’m hoping it’s a carb problem and fuel is causing the hot headed.

I can’t really dig into that until the next few days so thought I’d start on the plastics.

Image Image after hours of scrubbing it got too dark so...I took them for a shower haha Image

Haven’t turned out too bad, I’ve scrubbed a lot of the grime and boot scuffs off so I’ll do some buffing tonight

I also need pretty much every bolt ( if everyone knows the sizes of the plastic screws) as there was only about 4 screws across the whole plastics.

Plus broken areas.

I’ll jump on to the engine problem soon and see what I find :)

Try https://www.fowlersparts.co.uk/?gclid=C ... nMEALw_wcB.
I get most OEM parts for my Raptor from there.
Good luck with a project.

Managed to get her fired up and running

But thennn while trying to find the problem that I was told about ... POP engine seized. I have a suspicion it’s lacking the oil mod needed on the 04-06 model :(

Looking like summer rides are a no go
