renli 500

Postby richard.mugeridge » Mon May 01, 2017 4:08 pm

hi.
have managed to buy a renli 500, after two years of trying,
anyone out there know off a spares/parts shop in the UK,
there was a shop in the midlands? but he seems to have gone.
also any other renli owners that can give info on rebuild, as
mine is in need of a bit of TLC.
its an off roader, but my intention is to make it road legal.
things needed to repair/replace are both rear UJs between the
trans and rear diff, split prop mounting rubber/bearing and the
rear brake pads, foot and handbrake, the rear discs are pretty bad
as the pads were worn right down to the metal.
it has what I believe is the full wire loom,so if any one has a loom
diagram that can help me out.
my renli came from the Manchester area, any one down south own
one. any help would be much appreciated.
looking for the plastic roof, if anyone knows of one lying around.
thanks Richard m

Hi Richard, I've just seen your post, and I'd be happy to source some parts for your Renli buggy.
I have 2 of them myself (an 1100 and a 1500, both available to buy if any of your friends want one!), and I have a container leaving China early August with various spare parts on it already.
Do you have a parts list for your buggy? If not I can get one for you, and you can tell me the pats numbers you need.

Thanks,

Tim.

Hi RichH - only just seen your post I'm afraid, I didn't get a notification.
I think they are fantastic - selectable 2- or 4WD, independently locable front & rear diffs, low centre of gravity, decent suspension travel, lots of torque, and still very quick in a straight line.

HI, sorry about delay, posted my message and when I kept going back there were no replys so gave up looking.
only decided to look for plastic roof and saw what was my own forum message, so clicked and saw your reply.
if you are still dealing with renli parts and all, I am still after a hard plastic roof. one part I never found was the
part no. for the roof for the 500 model. got in touch with a dealer in the states and was informed that the roof
for the 1100/1500 would not fit the 500, as that's the models they were selling. all I know is that they cost $40
not inc. all the extra costs. was even thinking about buying a few so I could sell on, but scarred of losing my
money during importing. managed to get the bearings and UJ couplings from a local motor factors, and other parts
from simparts in Holland. they were going to let me know about a roof if they get one in. but will probably cost a
small fortune.
any way let me know if you can help me out many thanks, Richard m
