Winches

Postby SteveW » Sun Sep 04, 2016 4:48 pm

Does anyone actually use a winch regularly for greenlaning? In the process of fitting mine at the moment, more for peace of mind than anything else. I have come close to being stuck a few times but never actually got to the point where I had to get off the bike and push let alone need a winch.

Used mine half a dozen times I guess. Ride in woods so use if branches across tracks. Always ride on my own so go out of my way not to get stuck lol

I ride a Grizzly 700, came already fitted with a warn winch, I've used it twice, both times to pull someone else out, if you are going to do any serious mudding during the winter months I'd say it was a necessity, especially if you go out alone, I'm alone up in the hills and plantations a lot, bit of a comfort blanket knowing it's there should I need it.

I have used mine now, but only after deliberately getting stuck! I see you are on the IOM, we go there on holiday quite a bit. Not sure the Mrs would let me take my quad though!
