Electric start not working

Postby Cornwall » Tue Aug 21, 2018 9:17 am

Hi all

I have a Kawasaki KLF300 that we use around the farm. I can start it using the pull start no problem, then it will need some careful throttling and the choke wide open to keep it running until it warms.

The electric start, does not work, it makes some ticking noise but wont start the bike. The battery has been fully charged and topped up so i'm thinking its more electrical.

Are both the above linked in anyway? any expertise and ideas/ solution would be great!

Thanks in advance.

Won't be linked. Cold running problem could just be the carb jets need cleaning out, or that it's running a bit too lean on idle so needs adjusting slightly richer. The starter relay makes the click so if that's working then it could be the starter motor is jammed, dead, or not wired in properly
