Semi auto engine knock (klf 220)

Postby mrtigger » Sat Mar 05, 2016 11:23 am

So finally got a bit of work done on the bayou. We now have a rolling chassis back together and engine (loosely) mounted.

When cranking off the starter motor it sounds perfect, nice and smooth no awkward noises. Same when roll it in neutral. However dropping it in any forward gear or reverse and pushing it there's a knock/loud tap in time with rotation.....maybe not specific to bayou so anyone have main suggestions to look at eg centrifugal clutch or a definitive answer from previous experience? I've ruled out chain or piston slap due to it being OK in neutral on the starter motor but it may well surprise me when the looms back on and running and start doing it then when running in neutral too, who knows, so suggestions based on that situation also welcome. She's a very old and frail thing. But she WILL live again
