Man that sucks. Vin there's only really one solution and think you already know that. Ball joints is a pain but it's a good thing for them to have spotted for ya to be fair. Light/indicators is cheap and easy enough to rectify.

Unfortunately I couldn't say about whether you need just ball joint or full arm but given it failed 'may be play' seems a bit uncertain

I'm pretty sure the upper ball joint is held in place with a cir clip an they're the same size has the lower ball joint. BUT JUST DOUBLE CHECK 1ST. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lower-Ball-Jo ... 4196964cc2
Remove the cir clip an hit it an it should pop out. It might be easier to take the A arm off to do it.

I know they're sold but scroll down to the pic an wright up......

Had mot yesterday and it failed, first one was the vin number, not visible on the frame it's been powder coated over so that's a nightmare. My rear brake light had indicators built in now so apparently that's illegal, and to top it all off what I thought was a slightly lose bolt might turn out to be play in the upper arm ball joints and from as far as I can tell there not replaceable?

Any ideas?

I even put a front number plate on and mirrors

That is one very picky mot tester.

Not really. That's a tester doing his job. All kinda major things. Not like he's niggling over whether it's 1.5mm or 1.6mm tread left on a tire

I've had bikes for nearly 30 years and never have I had an mot tester even look at the vin number let alone check it.

Well they should. Anyone can rip a number plate off and stick it on a bike that it doesn't belong one vin a bit harder

Right I've got indicators, there fitted now but of a pain to do.

I've also scraped a section of powdercoat off to show the vin number looks a bit of a mess but going to clear nail varnish over it I think to stop it rusting.

Ball joints - think there is a small bit of play in them going to re try mot though. It looks like the ball joints aren't designed to come out the arm and be replaced after some research. Think I'm going to chop the ball joints off eventually and replace them with some high angle rose joints and get round it that way.

The ball joint should come off on a raptor m8 unless you've got different A arms on. :dontknow: Post a pic.
You could try putting some grease in your old 1's that might help.
