ES500 (2014) dead dash problem

Postby limestone_cowboy » Wed May 02, 2018 8:14 am

Hi all, not been on for a while because my quad is at my house in France and I haven't been since September and when I went in April the quad had developed a dash problem.

After we had charged the battery, it was completely dead when we came to start the quad, it started no problem and we ran around on a couple of times over the next few days. The last time we wanted to use the quad it wouldn't switch on. No power to the dash at all. I checked all the fuses and the likly source of such problems but no luck, still no power to the dash.
I stripped the dash down to look for any loose connections or the like, nothing. I put the dash back and hey presto, power to the dash ect. The motor will turn but not start, like the fuel has been shut down or something. After turning the motor over the dash goes mad! All the dials flash and the rev counter and speedo go up and down constantly, like it's doing some sort of pre-check.
Could I be right in suspecting a faulty ignition switch??

The bike has only done 350 miles
Any help would be appreciated
Regards
Mike

Are you sure the battery is OK? I have found on mine (also locked in a grange in france) gets fussy if the battery isn't making enough volts.

My guess would be a battery problem.
