You sir, have probably wet and therefore partially blocked your air filter. Quads don't like jet wash lol. Also check you haven't lodged the choke on carbs open or get any air leaks

Cheers but the filter is dry. I’ve stripped the carb n cleaned it all and put some new plugs in. I’ve just put it away for the evening but just before I did I noticed that the hot lead or cap on the left side was arcing. I took the cap off and the lead is very rusted

That's definitely not gonna help, but avoid jet wash in future on these, a few here have learnt that lesson including myself haha. Get some sandpaper or a file 8n there scrape it out see if it improves if it does you've found your problem, replace the coil. Best to do both though they're cheap enough

I e ordered a pair of coils to try. When checking for a spark it will only spark once each time I press the starter so I’m thinking g the cdi may be knackered. Been looking for a new cdi but it’s either ac or dc and it doesn’t say on the cdi. Any idea which I need?mine has all 6 pins used and it’s the non reverse model

That sounds rather odd, never seen that before but would still check with the new coils first. Same bike I (had) but I sold the cdi along with everything else off it so couldn't tell you ac or dc. For parts Just look for barossa cheetah 250/apache 250/rlx250/quadzilla smc 250 cdi as they're all the same bike and you're good. Try avoid aftermarket/"tuner" cdi as they're utter bollocks and make no difference at all lol.

Update. It seems to be running again. I had it started, was running rough again then suddenly cleared up. I stopped it and started it again and it was running crap and not revving again then cleared again. Wd40 must be soaking in. I’m gonna just start it a few times till the weekend then if all is well put it back togeather. Cheers all
