PGO BR250 Starting issues

Postby markb25 » Thu Jul 05, 2018 10:17 am

Hi all,

Can anybody offer some advice on an issue I have getting my PGO B250 to start, please? Until recently the buggy was starting and, running fine. A few weeks back it refused to turn over but, you could hear the click from one of the relays and, managed to start it by using a screwdriver on the solenoid. Since then I have replaced the solenoid and, after looking at the rest of the wiring have replaced the entire harness but, again I have the same issue. Does anybody have an idea as to what the issue may be? I'm no mechanic and have just been trying to eliminate possible issues. As it stands it won't start via the ignition only by shorting the solenoid, however, it will turn off via the ignition. The solenoid is new, the wiring harness is new. TIA Mark.

Does it require brake to be on to start? If so check brake switch and light etc as this would stop the switchgear being able to start the motor. If not, check your switchgear wiring, could have a loose connection not allowing a ground properly

Thanks, turns out the new wiring harness had some sort of failsafe whereby you had to depress the brake before it would fire up. However, the ignition barrel and the wires coming from it were in rag order so, I replaced it today and I'm back to having the same issue, brake depressed or not. I've checked all the fuses and relays etc and, all are ok, swapped the wires around on the brake switch on the master cylinder to see if that was the issue and no joy.

Hate to say it but sounds like you've caused this one yourself. It worked, you changed something, now it doesn't. If its just a plug, re try old ignition if it works check the wiring matches, sometimes you get sellers listing (online) stuff that is generic and doesn't always work
